Breathe Utah's Ashley Miller walks through a home with KSL 5, pointing out what to look for and ways to reduce pollution from your home by improving energy efficiency.
Start with the overal air-tightness of your home. Check for leaky windows and doors. Address these first, as there are many cost-effective ways to reduce heat loss through drafts. You can also have a blower door test performed, or have a HERS rater do an assessment. Remember to replace a broken water heater with an Ultra Low NOx model. These new water heaters reduce NOx emissions by 75% compared to a Low NOx model. And lower your water heater to a reasonable temperature. Always get your HVAC systems tuned each spring and fall. Replace air filters frequently.
